Why I write

Dear Nicky,

I started this for you.

There will be moments in your life where I won’t be there right next to you, to whisper a word of encouragement or reassurance when you need it. When I won’t be able to tell you how to get through something, although I know that you can and that you will. When I won’t be able to tell you how amazing you are, despite what life throws at you.

Moments when you might just need to hear your Mom’s voice in your head and feel your Mom’s love wrap around your heart to face what you are facing.

This blog is just that.

I’m trying to write down everything I want you to know in those moments, and everything else that I want to share with you. The things that I’ve learnt, the books that I’ve read, the mistakes that I’ve made, the feelings that I’ve felt, and the life that I have lived.

I am a professor to some, a teacher to some, a researcher to some, an entrepreneur to some, and a CEO to some. But, to you, I am the best title of all. Mom.

I wrote these letters to you, in the words and the voice that I use with you every day, with my heart full of my love for you and my belief in you — both of which are infinite and inextinguishable.

Thomas Edison said, “My mother was the making of me. She was so true and so sure of me.”

I am so true and so sure of you.

You see, you are the love of my life.

Mom
